Elder statesman and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has accused the Speaker,Delta state house of assembly Victor Ochei, whose company, Davnotch, handles the power plant, of having a hand in the disappearance of
the money budgeted for the project.

Therefore, Clark had warned Ochei not to join the governorship race in 2015 until he has cleared his name from
the mess.

However, the Speaker, in Asaba yesterday denied involvement in any corrupt activity, saying that the project
has reached completion stage.

Ochei said it was not true the state that the project site had been abandoned and overgrown with weeds, with nothing on ground to show for the huge money expended so far on it.

He added: “It takes a lot of time, resources and energy to complete. By the time the project comes on stream, the fact will speak for itself.”

The Speaker challenged journalists to visit the project site at Oghara to verify the extent of work done so far and
then come back to ask him questions.

He said time would vindicate him on whether he actually embezzled the IPP money, adding that, “People should not
expect project of such magnitude to be completed within a short space of time.
Such project should not be politicised”.
