Fred Agbaje advises FG to dialogue with Boko Haram

Fred Agbaje

Mr Fred Agbaje, a Lagos-based constitutional and human rights lawyer, on Wednesday appealed to the Federal Government to dialogue with Boko Haram to secure the release of the abducted school girls.

Agbaje said that dialogue could be used by the government to facilitate early release of the abducted Chibok girls.

“Federal Government should dialogue with in the interest of those children; if we actually need these children, they should dialogue.“

He also urged the Federal Government to be cautious in accepting the assistance being offered by the international community.

“This foreign intervention: the question is will the foreign interventionists remain in Nigeria even after they have captured Shekau or destroyed Boko Haram?

“They will go back and if they go back what is the guarantee that the remnants of Boko Haram will not regroup and continue to unleash mayhem.

“So, that is why the Federal Government must be very careful in embracing foreign interventionist approach.“

He also advised Nigerians to be mindful of the security and socio-economic implications of engaging foreign countries to help end insurgency in the country.
