Real Madrid have signed a Brazilian teenager on a free transfer from Coritiba who they hope will progress into ‘the new Roberto Carlos.’

The left-back has been quickly dubbed ‘the new Roberto Carlos’ following his move to the La Liga giants.

Serie A giants Roma were tracking Abner before he tore his cruciate ligament, however they have now been beaten to his signature by their European counterparts.

Abner will have to bypass another Brazilian left-back in the shape of Marcelo if he is going to become a first-team regular at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 18-year-old defender may not be in the same bracket as the likes of fellow Real Madrid summer signings James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos – but he is seen as a good investment for the future.
