Sunday Special Sermon:Miracle Marriage For You- By Pastor Stanley Obioha.

Having pastored for years, I have discovered that Marital Breakthrough has formed the bulk of prayer points and daily counseling. And I will be saying some things through this column on connecting with your spouse. Firstly, we must know that marital delay and rejection is a curse according to Jeremiah 7:34 “Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate. Marriage is connected to gladness. To be desolate means to be alone and God said it is not good. But in Isaiah 62:5, it is written “Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married”. Marriage and wedding brings joy and colour to God’s creation and satan fights that mirth and gladness that comes from it. The first assignment of God the father and Jesus was associated with joining man and wife. I picked a note my wife wrote me a day after proposal asking me how sure I am she is the one, and I replied verbatim “I was praying on 19th September for a wife from God in one month, and you came just 2 weeks of that prayer”. I was about to be deployed as a pastor and I wanted to be focused and God brought she whom I had never set my eyes on to me on the 2nd of October and in 6days we spoke for the first time, in 4days I went ahead to propose without any advice or confirmation. In 5days, I got a positive reply and in exactly 2 weeks I was deployed 2 states away for pastoral duty. For 9 month we courted through calls and got wedded! Recently I discovered a shift in desperation. It is no longer ladies now, but men who are stranded maritally. There is war against the bridegroom. As a seed of Abraham, you are a born-king and princes are either betrothed to a spouse or when desired, a feast is set up and the best maids are called. Genesis 24:3- 15 tells the story of Isaac wedding. We discover that Abraham had a choice of spouse. By the Spirit, He knew where to go for a find. When the bible says, “whosoever finds a wife”, He gave us a location. Abraham didn’t just send the servant, Eliezer to go to clubhouse, references and weddings, He sought for a wife among His kindred. Your kindred is your local assembly or the body of Christians, as you are seeking and serving God, He adds to you, the things you seek!

We discover is the real suitor was at home. When Adam’s wife arrived, He was at rest. At the wedding of Cana, the grooms voice was not heard.
Also in Verse 8, Abraham told Him not to force any unwilling woman. The undoing of most men is investing preciously in unwilling ladies. When I proposed to my wife, I gave her One week to reply, because I discovered that every serious lady has her answer at the minute of proposal. A reader may need to go retrieve an unaccepted proposal now.
Also Eliezer went to a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water. He didn’t go to a salon. He went to a place where the virtuous assemble. It may be a conference, workers or humanity forums. I bet you, if your heart isn’t there, you will locate your type.
In verse 12, He prayed. That is the only way to call on the father of queens. What was His prayer, Behold I stand here by the well (Vs 13). When you pray, expect yours to come to you. God brought Eve to Adam!

Now, In verse 14, And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac. Notice here that God does not deal in persons in mind but qualities. And the bible says “Prudence is a mark that a woman is from the Lord”. Men, please never think there is one particular woman out there for you. Don’t be too spiritual, there are thousands, only few (in your “kindred”) or one will pass this appointment test! I will say more on this in next episode. What made it a Miracle is firstly: the real groom was relaxed. Secondly, in Verse 15…As soon as I was done speaking, Rebekah came out! What makes it a miracle wife is that it happens shortly after prayer. “Came out” meant she was inside. There is a wife in every man, Eve was inside Adam! I agree with you today, God will give you yours shortly in Jesus name.

God has a purpose behind every marriage. There is a myth that after man fell in Eden, He left man to find a wife. But that is a lie. Marriage is connected to favour and we need the word of truth to experience it. For example, no demographic study has proved that male population exceeds female, because the truth says we were created in pairs! Even shoe makers make left and right leg, How much more your maker? Daughters of Zion needs this Word most especially because they are on the receiving end, “whosoever findeth a wife” and you must have what it takes to magnetize your God-ordained spouse.

Firstly, sister, the bible only said, “whoso findeth a wife…”. There is no where God said ladies should find a man! Never say you are looking for a husband, say instead a husband is looking for you! Isaiah 62:11-12 says “Behold, Say ye to the DAUGHTER OF ZION, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken”. So you that is searching is now being sought after. You don’t need prayers! Your salvation is coming! Quick marriage is part of the covenant we have with God but satan is out to silence the voice of the bride and bridegrooms. The first marriage tale in scriptures is that of Isaac and Rebekah in Genesis 24! Rebekah is an epitome of miracle marriage because her husband travelled long distance to find her. Who says it can’t happen to you? She was a part of her testimony! Many ladies think age is yardstick in marriage. So what were the forces at work in Rebekah.

1. She was willing. Abraham straitly told Eliezer to leave an unwilling woman. Submission, teachability and ability to give straight answer is a sign of willingness. The way many ladies turn down and delay reply to proposals show unwillingness. Please shun them!
2. She is industrious. She was carrying out of “wife-ful” duty. Being an inactive member of the spiritual kindred disqualifies you. I tell men who come to church, “never set affection on a bench warmer, it is laziness in display”.
3. She is sensitive. In verse 14, the servant said “And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac”. Rebekah was sensitive to the husband and his interest. Some ladies only accept the male but are not urgent or sensitive to His vision, family, and His weakness. Notice here that she passed a test which other may have failed! Marriage like employment has interview because we are looking for a help meet for Christ sake, a sensitive, resourceful and hospitable person!
4. She is spiritual. She was able to hear and obey God. “And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.” It takes deep faith to accept a man you just met today! She must have been in prayers (like she was when she conceived her twins), received a revelation which made her be in the right place at the right time and do exactly as was expected. Many ladies are unprepared. She took responsibility for her choice, no prophet was consulted. Many women are not matured to recognize their man or to perceive His future. Rebekah never knew Isaac!
5. She is cheerful and social. Had Rebekah carried a long-face, she would have missed the opportunity. Many ladies are not friendly enough to be interacted with.
6. She has a good testimony. Verse 16 says “And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her”. Your testimony is key. You cannot be praying for a spouse and you are frolicking and sleeping with a man. Peradventure you had an ugly past of immorality, the intensity of your Christian zeal must match or exceed that of your past! You must also walking with a new consciousness.
