Kenyan Musicians declare war on Nigerian Music

Kenyan musicians have been protesting this week – they want radio and TV stations in Kenya to devote 70% of airtime to Kenyan music.

The group of Kenyan musicians staged a demonstration in the capital Nairobi, calling on radio and TV stations to give local artists more airplay. They believe stations play too much West African and South African music and they want 70% of airtime to be devoted to Kenyan music.

The protesting musicians led by Eko Dydda,a  hip-hop and gospel musician said the media in Kenya is giving priority to Nigerian,Tanzanian and Ugandan music over their indigenous musicians.
